Creative Project:

Writing poetry together, publishing a book, and hosting a poetry reading at Opening Bell Coffee


Results:

  1. Beautiful friendships
  2. A deeper understanding of what it means to experience homelessness.

Wesley Prep 4th Graders and women in The Sisterhood program at Austin Street Center.


Timeline: 

February - May 2017


Creative Project:

Writing poetry together, publishing a book, and hosting a poetry reading at Opening Bell Coffee


Results:

  1. Beautiful friendships
  2. A deeper understanding of what it means to experience homelessness.
  3. Ongoing involvement in one anothers' lives, evidenced by Sisterhood's presence at Wesley Prep school musicals, soccer games, graduations, etc.  And Wesley Prep students coordinating housewarming parties for 3 sisters who moved into apartments.
  4.  An audience of about 300 onlookers at our poetry reading at Opening Bell Coffee.
  5. $6000.00 raised from book and t-shirt sales,  all of it to Austin Street Center.

Timeline: 

February - May 2018


Creative Project:

Writing and illustrating a children's book together, publishing it, and hosting a book launch/ art auction event  at Interabang Books


Results:

  1. More beautiful friendships
  2. Ongoing involvement in one anothers' lives, evidenced by special luncheons, baby showers, housewarmings, etc.
  3. An audience of about 150  onlookers at our book launch and art auction at Opening Bell Coffee.
  4. We raised $10,000 from book and t-shirt sales, and we donated $5,000.00 of it to Austin Street Center, and $5,000.00 to The Laura Bush Foundation for America's Libraries.

Wesley Prep 4th Graders, Bonton Farms, and Cafe Momentum 

Timeline: 

September 2018 - May 2019


 Creative Project:

Writing a collaborative cookbook including recipes that are meaningful to participants, using ingredients from Bonton Farms, testing recipes together, publishing cookbook and hosting several promotional events around

Participants: 

Wesley Prep 4th Graders, Bonton Farms, and Cafe Momentum 

Timeline: 

September 2018 - May 2019


 Creative Project:

Writing a collaborative cookbook including recipes that are meaningful to participants, using ingredients from Bonton Farms, testing recipes together, publishing cookbook and hosting several promotional events around Dallas to draw attention to these two special organizations. 


Results:

  1. Even more beautiful friendships
  2. Ongoing involvement in one anothers' lives, evidenced by ongoing connections to farm and restaurant, along with individuals maintaining friendships with caseworkers and helping Cafe Momentum interns get settled into apartments.
  3. An audience of about 400  onlookers combined at our various book launch events, l
  4. We raised $20,000 from book and t-shirt sales, and we donated $10,000.00 to Cafe Momentum and $10,000.00 to Bonton Farms.
